Over 32,000,000,000 Gas Spent on Ethereum Networks
Experts from the analytical company Dune Analytics reported on the results of the research they conducted in the field of gas consumption for transfers in the Ethereum layer 2 network. According to them, more than 32,000,000,000 gas fees were spent on the blockchain between January 9 and 15.
Over the past year, this level has increased by 22.8%. Research has been done across the entire blockchain, which means not only transactions between Ethereum holders, but also other digital assets circulating on the Tier 2 ETH network.
Most spending was on Optimism. 50% of transactions were made in this network. Arbitrum was in second place in terms of gas consumption with a figure of 30%. Spending every month increases more and more. In November, for the first time, more than 100,000,000,000 gas was spent in total. Since then, the volume of gas consumed has not fallen below this round mark.
Experts from Dune Analytics found that Arbitrum and Optimism have become too popular and now, as noted above, they process more combined transactions than the main Ethereum network.
As of January 15, the total volume of Optimism and Arbitrum transfers has crossed the mark of 1,200,000 times, while more than 1,000,000 transactions have been made on the main Ethereum network.
