Huawei: 5G networks are needed to immerse in the metaverse
Chinese giant Huawei recently shared his thoughts on how the telecommunications infrastructure should change so that users can seamlessly immerse themselves in the world of metaverses. For this, according to Huawei, 5G and 6G technologies are needed.
This opinion was shared by Abhinava Purohita, the chief expert of the company in the field of consulting in business and strategy in the Middle East region. According to him, the development of Web3 technologies and virtual universes also requires high downloads, excellent streaming quality, mobile devices and metaverse hardware.
Without all of the above, the next iteration of the Internet will be almost impossible to infiltrate people's lives.
Abhinava explained the need for different types of rendering and other technological innovations:
Delivering such an experience will require innovation in areas such as hybrid real-time local and remote rendering, video compression, edge computing, and cross-layer visibility.
According to Purohita, the large-scale implementation of 5G networks will significantly improve throughput and provide an opportunity for the development of metaverses on mobile devices. With the advent of 6G technologies, being in virtual worlds will become even more convenient and practical.
In comparison, fixed wireless broadband 5G network speeds can reach 1,000 megabytes per second, when the average US internet speed is now 119.03 megabytes per second.
The Global Mobile Service Provider Associations (GMAs) report that as of August 2022, 501 operators in 153 countries have already invested in 5G network technologies. Of these 501 operators, 222 operators have already launched 5G network services. They affected 89 countries. Despite this, despite the lack of universal adoption of 5G technologies, it is still unknown whether they will be able to interact with the metaverse, as experts from Huawei say.
