Starbucks launched an unusual loyalty program

The famous coffee chain Starbucks announced the launch of a beta version of an unusual loyalty program that will be built on non-fungible tokens. For the campaign, the Polygon platform is used, and not Ethereum, as one might assume. The loyalty program will be carried out in cooperation with the Nifty Gateway marketplace.

Previously, the company announced Starbucks Odyssey, a project based on Web3 technology. The event was only available to a limited number of people on the waiting list. Now Starbucks has opened a full-fledged loyalty program with her help.

Individuals who participate in this program will be rewarded with non-fungible tokens from the Journey Stamp Collection while taking virtual tours of Starbucks Odyssey. While in this virtual world, users will be able to earn points to spend on immersive coffee events if they wish. It is not yet completely clear what exactly they mean by these words, however, Starbucks assures that users have not received such events in the world of coffee anywhere else.

Starting January 2023, more users will receive Starbucks Odyssey invitations. When Starbucks Odyssey members redeem their earned points for coffee chain NFT tokens, they will be able to buy and sell them on the Nifty Gateway marketplace to get paid for them. So far, the sale and exchange will be possible on the same trading platform, but later the list of marketplaces may expand.

For Starbucks, interacting with the world of cryptocurrencies and blockchain is not the first experience. Previously, the cafe chain began tracking the supply of its drinks using a blockchain solution developed by Microsoft. In addition, in Starbucks coffee shops located in El Salvador, since October 2021, you can pay for goods with bitcoin. Then the world's first legalization of cryptocurrency and its adoption at the state level took place.
