Lessons on NFT and Metaverses appeared in UAE schools
Representatives of the state of the United Arab Emirates announced the convergence of the population with the field of cryptogaming at the legislative level. This they will achieve through the introduction of lessons related to the metaverses and the realm of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). According to them, this was done in order to improve financial literacy, since recently there has been more and more news about the purchase/sale of NFT tokens. The state is concerned about how their residents will manage their funds and therefore decided to let people know about the events of the world of the crypto industry, instructing schoolchildren from an early age.
Tracey Moxley, who is a director at Repton Al Barsha, said that they are very concerned about the issue regarding the metaverse, game development, virtual reality and everything related to the cryptocurrency markets. In this they see new opportunities both for development in finance and in warning their residents against big risks. Innovations in the school curriculum will contribute to the development of school knowledge in the field of the financial sector and prepare them for the labor market. Together with the latter, the fields of blockchain and cryptocurrencies will be connected.
In addition to eliminating financial illiteracy, the UAE authorities also want to provide all the knowledge about the proper implementation of security rules on the Internet, especially when it comes to the world of the metaverses. Earlier, INTERPOL said that it sees in the development of the Web 3.0 sphere and improvements in schemes for those who like to break the law. The latter will explore the sphere of the metaverse and will enter a new level of crime, and the International Police decided, in turn, to create a virtual office in the metauniverse in order to keep up with the times and increase the effectiveness of the fight against cybercriminals.
As for the school curriculum, now students will receive about an hour a week. If the experiment turns out to be successful, then most likely in the future the number of hours for initiation into the topic of the metaverses will be increased.
Repton Al Barsha director Tracy Moxley commented:
We believe that blockchain is the technology of the future and we really want to delve into this space by raising the awareness of teachers, students and their parents about it. Our 4th to 6th grade students are already learning game design. We will make sure that they have developed digital thinking. They must have heard a lot about NFTs, digital assets and blockchain.
Mark Ryan, one of the art teachers in Abu Dhabi, said that for some time now he has been teaching his wards not only art, but also the fact that paintings can be sold as NFTs. Such a move can really have a positive impact on the motivation of students and contribute to the development of their creative data. However, according to him, students are focusing on the NFT field not for making money, but as a way to spread their creativity and make themselves known in this world. In addition to the sphere of buying/selling NFT tokens, Mark Ryan taught his students and the knowledge of the metauniverses of The Sandbox and Decentraland.
This is not the first time the United Arab Emirates has shown its commitment to exploring the Web 3.0 realm and bringing its people closer to the Metaverse. Earlier, the Ministry of Economy of the United Arab Emirates opened its office in the metaverse. In this way, they want to achieve a new level of interaction with their citizens and carry out the elimination of illiteracy in their knowledge regarding the field of finance.
