ELEAGUE Major 2017 changes the rules
ELEAGUE CEO has shared information about a new format of the tournament.
Christina Alejandre, ELEAGUE CEO, announced the details on changing the rules of the group stage for ELEAGUE Major 2017. According to her statement, the tournament will be played in Swiss format.
The main particularity of this system is that all teams play in one group, and to join the play-off a team needs to get 3 wins. If a team loses 3 matches, it leaves the tournament.
Previously, all major tours were played according to GSL system. All participants were divided into 4 groups with 4 teams in each. To qualify for the following stage, a team should take the first or the second position in a group rating.
ELEAGUE Major 2017 is scheduled on January, 22 - 29 in Atlanta, USA. 16 teams will compete for $1,000,000 prize pool.
Closed LAN-qualifiers will start on December 15, the list of all participants is presented on the official website of the event.
