The duration of matches in CS:GO and CS2 is almost similar in terms of time
Leetify conducted a study in which they determined the average duration of matches in CS:GO and CS2. Analysts analyzed over a million gaming battles in three different modes: the premier mode of CS2, short matches in CS:GO, and long matches in CS:GO.
After the implementation of the MR12 system in CS2, the duration of matches remained almost unchanged. On average, a game in CS2 lasts 34 minutes, while lengthy matches in CS:GO take 40 minutes. On the other hand, short games in CS:GO typically end in 21 minutes.
These research results indicate that the introduction of the MR12 system in CS2 did not have a significant impact on the duration of matches in this mode. However, in CS:GO, significant differences can be observed depending on the chosen game mode.
Long matches in CS:GO, lasting an average of 40 minutes, likely provide players with more time to develop strategies and execute tactical moves. On the other hand, short games that conclude in 21 minutes require a faster and more aggressive style of play.
This data can be valuable for players, teams, and competition organizers, allowing them to better tailor their tactics and strategies based on the chosen game mode and match duration.
Longer matches are also more favored by esports bettors, as punters get more time to explore the in-play markets during the games and claim any live betting offers available. Though not yet as prevalent as traditional sports betting bonuses, esports promos are showing up more regularly than before.
