It turns out that there is a reference to the game Half-Life in the game Counter-Strike 2
I actually miss the days when I thought that Half-Life 3 was secretly being developed and its release was imminent. It seemed like if only we, internet detectives, could decipher the many hints from Valve, we would solve this mystery and be able to reunite with Gordon once again. It was something to believe in. But now I am old and tired, my psychological wounds too deep, and I can no longer hope for anything...
But wait! In the new version of Valve's Counter-Strike 2, there's a reference to Half-Life! Yes, Valve has decided to tease us all over again. It was discovered by YouTuber and Valve expert RichterOvertime. The Easter egg is on the dual Berettas, which can be purchased in the pistol menu in Counter-Strike. The inscription on the barrel reads "PIETA BARDOTTA. GORDON. F. MADE IN ITALY." The first two words are a deliberate misspelling of the name Pietro Beretta, in honor of the Italian gun manufacturer Fabbrica d'Armi Pietro Beretta. But we don't care about that!
Gordon F[reeman]. There's a name I haven't heard since the last time there were rumors about Half-Life 3. Amazingly, this particular weapon model is even more directly related to Half-Life: Gordon never used a Beretta in Half-Life or its sequel, but a high-quality model pack (HD Texture Pack) for the original game replaced the Glock with the Beretta 92FS. So, if you were wondering why Richter's answers have many people talking about "confirmation of HD Texture Pack canon", now you know.
Actually, this Easter egg also confirms that Counter-Strike and Half-Life take place in the same universe. It makes you wonder why humanity relied on a bearded physicist with a crowbar instead of an elite squad of counter-terrorists to fight off the Combine. Wait... are they the Combine soldiers?!? Down the rabbit hole, comrades...
It's a nice nod. Who knows what's going on with Half-Life. I'll stick to my theory that on the day Gabe Newell announces his retirement, Valve will release the Orange Box 2, in which every game ends with the number 3: Half-Life 3, Left4Dead 3, Portal 3, Team Fortress 3, Counter-Strike 3, Dota 3. Hey, a free man can dream.
