ESL intends to save the North American CS:GO scene
In an interview for the Dexerto portal, ESL representatives represented by Alex Inglot said that they intend to save the North American CS:GO scene. As part of the discussion, a representative of the tournament operator promised to make every effort to revive the region, which has been hit hard over the past two years of the pandemic.
In particular, the ESL Commissioner stressed that the "Louvre Accord" was designed to create a more sustainable future of the discipline, specifically for ESL and the teams that became partners with the operator, and now it takes this mission one step further, solving the problems of the entire ecosystem as a whole..
Inglot himself said that the pandemic hit the North American scene hard as big sponsors left the region, while the championships could not interest players and teams with big prize money. At the same time, the coronavirus has made it difficult to move around the world, putting teams in a difficult position, hindering their development outside of North America. In addition, some organizations have reduced the amount of funding for their squads, which forced the players to leave the discipline.
According to the commissioner, ESL will take several steps to alleviate the plight of North American clubs. In particular, the tournament operator has already postponed the ESL Pro League group stage so that teams can play longer in favorable conditions without having to travel to another country for a long time.
In addition, ESL will provide local teams with the opportunity to go to bootcamps with other organizations at reduced prices or for free. Also, North American teams will receive one and a half times more income, stimulating their further growth. At the end, Inglot added that local teams could sell a partner slot in the league with concessions.
Recall that earlier ESL announced the extension of the Louvre Agreement with 14 partner organizations. As part of the agreement, the league's partner teams have permanent membership in the ESL Pro League, and also receive additional income from hosting other tournaments in the ESL Pro Tour series.
