Sonic leaves Extra Salt
Sonic has made the decision to leave the Extra Salt roster to focus on taking a break from the busy competition schedule. Note that this news comes after the rumor about floppy's negotiations with Extra Salt, clearly hinting to us about the upcoming announcement.
"I decided to take a little break from CS and the team. Lately it was hard for me mentally and so I want to retire and collect my thoughts. I'll let you all know when I'm ready," theplayer wrote on his Twitter account.
Sonic was the main player in the original squad, going through the ATK and Cloud9 stages, with the exception of a short three-month stint at Envy. However, in December 2020, Extra Salt signed a promising roster, which also included the 22-year-old South African.
During this period, Sonic helped his team win DreamHack Open March 2021: North America, VENN Invitational Spring 2021 and DreamHack Open June 2021: North America, as well as take second place at Funspark ULTI 2020 and DreamHack Open September 2021: North America.
The 22-year-old has competed almost non-stop since 2014, initially breaking off domestic competition in South Africa before moving to North America in 2018 as part of Bravado's Project Destiny, a plan to raise awareness of talent and skills South African players.
He has since played overseas as the coronavirus pandemic has limited his ability to return home over the past year. As the season draws to a close, a short break before the New Year will give him much-needed time to recover.
From now on, the composition of Extra Salt is as follows:
- JT.
- OSee.
- FaNg.
- MarKE.
- Tc (trainer).
- Sonic (inactive).
