Rumor: Valorant may have a duel mode
Recently, new leaks of information have appeared on the network regarding updates in the shooter esports discipline from Riot Games, Valorant. According to some insiders, a duel mode may appear in the game, where players will play against each other in a 1v1 format.
Now players have access to six main game modes and one additional (“Snowballs” - included on New Year's holidays). They are globally divided into deathmatch and planting/clearing a bomb. Thus, the 1v1 mode could be the first truly unique mode for Valorant.
This rumor may well turn out to be true, as the Valorant developers are constantly adding new content in the form of agents, maps, new modes, and more to keep their players in the game. In Valorant, just like in CS:GO and other similar competitive games, there is an element of cosmetic improvements that developers are actively monetizing. The players are very happy with the way the skins are made in the game, and therefore the decorations are in great demand and bring a lot of profit to the management of Riot Games. The game was released in 2020 and since then has a constant influx of players and growing popularity.
The well-known Valorant dataminer, who publishes under the Valorleaks tag and has an audience of 746,500 subscribers, believes that the aforementioned duel mode is already in the active development phase at the moment, but at the same time said that he was not sure if the mode will be released. In addition, he clarified that users can play in 10 or 13 rounds. While the exact number of rounds is unknown, Valorleaks already has a couple of options.
Users should be very pleased with this mode, as most players requested the addition of a duel format in order to be able to conduct a full warm-up before the start of regular and ranked matches. For a certain part of the audience, this solution looks more beautiful, unlike Deathmatch, where respawn points disappoint players.
In addition, users claim that they want such fights where they can fight one on one, as well as have variations of “ranked” and “unranked”. Fights in the 1v1 format are considered by players to be the fairest. As for the maps on which the battles will take place, users suggest that Riot Games redo the regular maps, leaving only 1 point on them for planting and demining the bomb. Probably, the developers will be able to later make special balanced maps intended only for skirmishes, but for now, apparently, players will be happy with this option.
On one of the publications of the same damtainer, a certain mode with the uncomplicated name Quickplay was noticed, indicating an increased pace of the game being played. The speed of the match can be increased by reducing the number of rounds or changing the balance, including both the economic component and the features of the heroes' skills. Riot Games has not yet made any official announcements, and therefore it is worth assuming that both Quickplay and 1v1 modes should not be expected to be released in the near future.
