Frost Giant Studios Receives Additional $ 5 Million Investment
Frost Giant Studios has announced a $ 5 million investment to continue developing the independent real-time strategy game.
The investment was attended by the Korean venture fund Kona Venture Partners, as well as Global Founders Capital, RXBAR co-founder Jared Smith and entrepreneur Eden Chen. The tranche follows the company's initial $ 4.7 million funding round that began last October.
Some of the new investment will be used to scale the Frost Giant development team. To that end, the company announced the hiring of former StarCraft II lead engineer James Anhalt as its chief architect.
Frost Giant was founded last year by Blizzard Entertainment veterans Tim Morten and Tim Campbell. Its foundation was hailed by many in the gaming and eSports space, since most of the original staff members were in favor of what is considered almost the most influential genre of eSports and leaders in the RTS genre. The genre has mostly been dormant in the esports space, and no new game has come up to challenge StarCraft II as the industry leader.
