Resident Evil Requiem Will Be Scarier than Resident Evil Village
In less than a month, Capcom releases Resident Evil Requiem—the newest expansion to the franchise that will feature two playable characters – Grace Ashcroft and Leon S. Kennedy.
A lot of players have been wondering how scary Requiem will be in comparison to previous titles. During the latest interview with PlayStation Blog Japan, the game’s director, Koshi Nakanishi, revealed Resident Evil Requiem will be scarier than 2021’s Resident Evil Village but not as scary as Resident Evil 7, released back in 2017.
“Some players found it hard to finish Resident Evil 7, so we toned down the horror a bit in Resident Evil Village. In Requiem, Leon’s segments lean more into satisfying action, which allowed us to really push the horror in Grace’s sections.
Overall, this game may be scarier than Resident Evil Village, but it alternates between tension and relief, so it isn’t a continuous, suffocating experience” like Resident Evil 7.”
Previously, it was confirmed that part of the gameplay for Grace will focus more on horror and remind us of Resident Evil 2, while the sequence for Leon will have more action scenes, like in Resident Evil 4. The game is also confirmed to have both first- and third-person modes, to make the players choose the way to play.
Resident Evil Requiem will release on February 27 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2.
