V-Bucks Price Just Dropped, Here’s How To Buy Cheaper!
If you’ve been grinding Fortnite and eyeing the shop for some new skins or that Battle Pass upgrade, this week just brought a massive W. Epic Games has officially boosted its Epic Rewards program, making V-Bucks way cheaper for anyone buying through Epic’s own payment system. That means on PC, iOS, Android, and the web, players now get 20% back in rewards for every purchase.
And this isn’t some limited-time promo — it’s permanent.
Yep, you’re now basically getting a fifth of your money back every time you buy V-Bucks or any in-game item, as long as you dodge platform fees and go straight through Epic. If you're someone who dumps a decent amount into Fortnite or Rocket League, this change isn’t just cool — it’s kind of huge.
To get 20% back on V-Bucks, buy them using Epic’s payment system on PC, iOS, or Android — not through PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo, where no cashback applies. Rewards stack automatically and never expire, giving you long-term savings on all Fortnite and Epic Games Store purchases.

Apple vs Epic Games
This reward overhaul comes right as Fortnite is finally back on iOS. After being kicked off the App Store in 2020, the game’s long legal battle with Apple is finally settling — and Epic is celebrating with cash.
Back in August 2020, Epic decided it was done playing by Apple’s rules. They added a new way to buy V-Bucks in Fortnite: directly through Epic’s own payment system, skipping Apple’s in-app system entirely. Apple didn’t like that, because it bypassed their 30% cut, so they removed Fortnite from the App Store.
Epic sued, Apple fired back, and the legal showdown lasted years. Epic argued Apple had a monopoly and unfairly blocked competition on its platform. Apple said Epic violated the App Store contract. It got messy. But after a rollercoaster of court decisions, appeals, and headlines, things are finally calming down. And the return of Fortnite to iOS — specifically via cloud gaming and third-party stores — is Epic’s victory lap.
So yeah, this rewards upgrade is both a celebration and a big middle finger to the old 30% platform fee model.

What Changed for V-Bucks?
Here’s the key breakdown:
- Old system: Buy V-Bucks on iOS, Xbox, PlayStation, or Switch — 30% goes to the platform, no kickbacks.
- New system: Buy V-Bucks through Epic’s payment system — Epic gets the full cut, and you get 20% back in Epic Rewards.
- Platforms included: PC, iOS (via cloud or alternative stores), Android, and the web.
- Games included: Fortnite, Rocket League, and anything else sold through the Epic Games Store.
You’ll still be able to buy through PlayStation or Xbox if you want, but you’re just throwing away 20% at that point. With this change, Epic is making a clear push to reward players for buying “direct.”
20% back in Epic Rewards when you purchase in Fortnite and Epic’s other games on PC, iOS, Android, and the web using Epic’s payment system.
That’s the key quote. And it applies to more than just in-game currency. Any full game or cosmetic bought through the Epic Games Store gets you the same cashback, at least until August 31, when the bonus for non-Fortnite titles might go back to 5%.

The Bigger Picture
Epic has always framed this fight as something bigger than Fortnite. Their long-term goal? Break the app store monopoly and give developers (and players) more control — and better deals.
With the new Epic Rewards system, they’re doing exactly that.
Is it partly a marketing move to bring players back into the fold after a long App Store absence? For sure. But it also shows Epic’s strategy paying off. By convincing users to switch payment systems, they win twice: they get more revenue per sale, and they build loyalty through cashback.
Meanwhile, Apple and other platforms like PlayStation still take their 30% fee with zero kickbacks for buyers. Epic’s not just changing pricing — they’re actively trying to reshape how digital storefronts work.

So Should You Switch?
Absolutely. If you’re spending money in Fortnite or Rocket League, or grabbing anything through the Epic Games Store, use Epic’s system. It’s cheaper, faster, and you’re literally getting free money for doing the same thing.
Just make sure you’re logged into your Epic account and use their payment methods instead of the default in-app options. It might take a second longer, but it’s worth it.
And if you’re on console? Well, maybe don’t buy your V-Bucks there anymore.
