V Rising's Biggest Update Yet Arrives in April – New Biome, PvP Duels & Combat Overhaul

If you thought V Rising was done evolving, think again! Stunlock Studios just revealed its next major update, Invaders of Oakveil, which is landing in late April. This isn’t just another small patch—it’s bringing a whole new biome, expanded PvP mechanics, and what the devs are calling the “biggest combat overhaul yet.” Let’s break it down.

In V Rising, you awaken from centuries of slumber, hungry for blood and power. Set in a massive open world with five unique biomes, you’ll hunt humans, drain their blood, and grow stronger. Every drop matters—NPCs have different blood types that give unique buffs, kinda like RPG classes.

But power isn’t just about drinking blood—you need a castle! Build your own vampiric fortress, craft powerful gear, and take on monstrous bosses to unlock better loot. The world is full of dangers, and the biggest one? The sun. Step into daylight, and you’re toast—literally. Stick to the shadows, plan your hunts carefully, and make every night count.

Originally launched in early access (2022), V Rising hit full release in 2024, now also on PS5. It’s perfect for solo players and co-op lovers alike, with PvE and PvP options. Want to be a ruthless vampire lord or just vibe in your gothic castle? You decide.

A New Biome: Oakveil Woodlands

The biggest highlight of this update is the introduction of the Oakveil Woodlands, an uncharted and dangerous forest filled with dark magic, powerful enemies, and a brand-new boss: the serpent queen, Megara. Her minions, known as the Venom Blades, will be roaming this wild new territory, offering fresh challenges to players looking to test their skills.

According to Stunlock Studios, Oakveil is an “untouched wilderness” that’s now been corrupted by Megara’s forces. Expect a gloomy, atmospheric forest teeming with deadly creatures and new magic techniques waiting to be mastered.

New PvP Arena & 1v1 Duels

One of the coolest features of Invaders of Oakveil is the addition of a battle arena that players can build in their vampire castles. This allows for custom PvP matches where players can set their own rules and battle their friends.

And for those who want to prove their dominance beyond castle walls, the update introduces 1v1 duels that can be initiated almost anywhere in the world. Best of all, these are risk-free fights, meaning you won’t lose gear or progress if you go down in a one-on-one showdown.

Three New Weapons & Combat Overhaul

Stunlock is also shaking up combat in a big way. The update introduces three deadly new weapons:

  • Claws – Think Wolverine-style slashing weapons that apply a stacking “puncture” debuff. Once fully stacked, it explodes into a burst of damage.
  • Twinblade – A fast, agile weapon that lets you launch enemies into the air and even pull them toward you.
  • Throwing Daggers – These can be used in quick succession, with the attack speed increasing over time, allowing for devastating combos.

But the new weapons aren’t the only reason to be excited. Stunlock Studios has been working on a deep combat rework that touches nearly every aspect of the game. This includes:

  • Overhauled blood types to give players more build diversity.
  • Rebalanced gear stats, making progression more flexible.
  • New customization options allow for greater control over your vampire’s abilities and play style.

According to Stunlock, the main reason behind this massive combat rework is that players were often locked into specific weapons and gear due to rigid stat structures. The new system aims to flip that, giving players more freedom to build their character based on their own style rather than what their gear dictates. The goal? Make combat feel more dynamic, strategic, and fun.

With Invaders of Oakveil, V Rising is about to feel like a whole new game. The new biome alone would have been enough to get players excited, but with added PvP features, new weapons, and a complete combat overhaul, this might be the biggest update the game has ever seen.
