Fatal Fields Glitch Spells Doom in Fortnite: Unexpected Death Shakes Up OG Map Exploration
A Fortnite enthusiast stumbled upon a perilous glitch near Fatal Fields that led to an abrupt demise. While Fortnite offers various strategies for outlasting opponents, an unforeseen glitch on the OG map proved fatal for this particular player.
Fortnite OG, commencing on November 3, has reintroduced many original points of interest to the battle royale map, evoking nostalgia among players. With the ongoing OG season, classic elements are making a comeback, including Chapter 1 weapons, Tilted Towers, familiar locations, and even the iconic shopping cart. However, during exploration near Fatal Fields, a player encountered an untimely demise due to an apparent glitch.
A Reddit user named WalmartGreder shared a video clip illustrating the incident on the outskirts of Fatal Fields. After retrieving a fallen ally's Reboot Card, the player swapped a weapon with one found on the ground. Strangely, after taking three steps, the player instantly perished, despite possessing 100 health, 20 shield, and a full Overshield. According to the Fortnite combat log, the player supposedly eliminated themselves and exited prematurely—a term usually associated with players who voluntarily leave an ongoing game. Notably, WalmartGreder encountered a connection issue, yet their gameplay remained active until their unexpected elimination, without accessing the menu to exit the game.
Contrary to standard scenarios where players leaving the game are sent back to the lobby, WalmartGreder continued spectating their teammate. Typically, in Fortnite trios, downed players can be revived by their teammates. However, in this case, WalmartGreder's demise did not leave them crawling on the ground or drop a Reboot Card upon death. This left the trio down two members, placing the burden on the sole survivor to carry the team. The clip concludes with the remaining player exiting the match, and the team reaching the top 24.
The glitch showcased in WalmartGreder's video likely cost them the game, and while it emphasizes the potential dangers around Fatal Fields, it is presumably unintentional. As Epic Games consistently updates Fortnite, there is a possibility that this glitch will be addressed in the near future.
