Former Dignitas and Houston Rockets Executives Launch Cybersport Certification Institute
The former head of Dignitas Ryan Freedman administration and former vice president of Houston Rockets on eSports Sebastian Park have teamed up to launch the Certification Institute of eSports (ECI).
According to the press release, ECI will create and operate an exam and certification program designed for the esports industry. This initiative aims to promote meritocracy, professionalism, and increased diversity and inclusion in esports.
The program aims to set the industry standard for esports expertise, as well as enhance a person's ability to get a qualifying job through an ECI certification. The entrance exam consists of 120 multiple-choice questions and one essay. The exam focuses on esports knowledge, statistical literacy, and problem solving.
The exams will be open to anyone working in or outside the esports industry. The study guide will be offered with a pay-what-you-can-afford model, using the proceeds to enable low-income candidates to access the test.
ECI's advisory board is made up of many prominent esports representatives including Cloud9, Gen.G, Evil Geniuses, FlyQuest, and others.
The Advisory Board will be responsible for submitting questions to the ECI exam. Club members will also regularly make recommendations to ECI alumni who have been hired by various companies. The goal of this will be for the institute to play an important role in the long-term success of the esports industry.
