Apple will cut fees for some developers in the App Store

Apple announced that it will introduce a new program to support small businesses in the App Store called the App Store Small Business Program. Within its framework, the commission of all developers with earnings not exceeding $ 1,000,000 per year will be 15% instead of the usual 30.

Epic Games' earnings clearly exceed this figure, and therefore the main competitor Apple will not be able to get such attractive conditions. Fortnite brought in ~ $ 1,800,000,000 to its creators in 2019. Users joked that Apple could introduce a program to support all developers except Epic Games.

The App Store Small Business Program starts on January 1, 2021. There has been a rivalry between Apple and Epic Games since August this year. Initially, Epic Games wanted to change the monetization rules bypassing the App Store so that Apple did not pay a 30% commission. The latter understood what was happening and removed the game from the stores. After that, Google decided to remove Fortnite from Google Play, in connection with which Epic Games began to incur huge losses. The organizations began a lawsuit in the United States, and today it became known that Epic Games has filed a lawsuit in federal court in Australia. Most of the judges are inclined to believe that Apple should win the process.
