DreamHack Summer dates announced
DreamHack Summer will take place from June 18th to 21st at Elmia, Jönköping.
DreamHack (DH) is the world's largest eSports games festival. DreamHack takes place twice a year at the Elmia Exhibition Center in Jönköping, Sweden. It holds the world record (recognized by Guinness World Records and the Twin Galaxies Video Records Organization) as the largest computer and web festival. DreamHack also set a record for the world's fastest Internet connection and generated traffic. This record of Internet connection managed to beat another festival called The Gathering, which was held in Norway.
In 2007, DreamHack received a certificate of honor from the Jönköping Municipality for contributions to business, education and community development in the local community.
History of DreamHack
DreamHack began its history in the basement of an elementary school in Malung in the 90s, where classmates and friends of interest met. A little later, in 1994, DH "moved" to the school cafeteria, after which he gained his popularity and became the largest regional "Demo-party" of those times. In the same year, the well-known name DreamHack appeared. After 3 years, the event changed its location and began to take place in the city of Burleng, and Arena Kupolen became the venue for it, as a result of which it became the largest LAN-party in Sweden and the third largest in Scandinavia. In 2001, DreamHack was first held in the city of Jönköping, and the venue was the Elmia Exhibition Center, where it still takes place, every year twice.
DreamHack is held every six months and is divided into:
- DreamHack Summer, which is aimed specifically at games,
- DreamHack Winter, which specializes in the Demo scene. It takes place on the last weekend of November.
The difference between these divisions has always been blurred, and in recent times it has completely disappeared.
