An intriguing post appeared on HoN’s official account featuring an image of an egg, resembling a phoenix – potentially symbolizing rebirth. This has sparked speculation about a possible relaunch of the project or even the development of HoN 2.

Heroes of Newerth (HoN) was a pioneering multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game developed by S2 Games, inspired by the popular Warcraft III mod, Defense of the Ancients. Launched on May 12, 2010, HoN quickly gained traction among MOBA enthusiasts with its innovative gameplay and accessibility on Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. Transitioning to a free-to-play model in July 2011, the game expanded its player base significantly. In 2015, development was handed over to Frostburn Studios, ensuring continued updates and support. On June 20, 2022, official servers shut down.

Heroes of Newerth (HoN) began development in 2005, with initial efforts focused on engine creation before transitioning to game assets. Following a beta phase starting in 2009, the game officially launched on May 12, 2010. Regular updates introduced new features like matchmaking, an in-game store, and casual mode. When HoN transitioned to a free-to-play model in 2011, later removed all hero access restrictions. The game underwent significant ownership and development changes, moving from S2 Games to FrostBurn Studios in 2015 under Garena's acquisition. Despite its official shutdown in June 2022, HoN remains playable through community support.
