AGO stripped of victory at ESL Polish Championship Spring 2021
The Polish AGO team lost their championship at the ESL Polish Championship Spring 2021 due to an investigation that pointed to the facts of stream sniping during the final match with HONORIS. As a reminder, AGO won that match with a score of 2: 0 and earned a slot at ENC Global Playoff Spring 2021.
Conversations began immediately after the end of the final match, as a video was leaked on the network, in which the computer was clearly visible in the background with the match broadcast turned on.
Already on May 18, ESL Poland announced that it was investigating a potential violation. Video recorded by an AGO employee in the room where three team members were playing shows the computer launching the official broadcast of the match "in sight of at least two AGO representatives, one of whom was in direct contact with the team," according to the tournament organizer. Immediately after the start of the proceedings, AGO provided the organizer with recordings of the conversations of the players who confirmed the violation.
It is noted that the investigation has taken part not only ESL Company, but also for the integrity of the Commission eSports (ESIC).
"AGO responded to all our inquiries and provided all available resources, and presented a plausible scenario indicating that representatives made this mistake without malice," added ESL Poland.
While AGO was disqualified from the tournament, the HONORIS team received $ 6,592, as well as a place in the upcoming ENC Global Playoff Spring 2021. Note that the championship will be held from May 27-30, and the winner will receive a choice between IEM Cologne 2021 Play-In and IEM Summer 2021.
