The transfer that affected the financial side of esports - what happened after device switched to NiP?
Nikolai 'device' Reedtz has moved from Astralis to Ninjas in Pajamas. This transfer surprised, perhaps, everyone who follows esports, from ordinary spectators to analysts and players with the club's staff. The event shocked not only emotionally, but also financially.
Every person who is at least somewhat versed in financial trading understands that this or that news affects the exchange rate. A similar situation happened in esports quite recently. With the departure of device, Astralis Group shares have lost their value. Finn Tomi 'lurppis' Kovanen, manager of ENCE, Immortals and MIBR pointed out this interesting fact. On his Twitter account, he noted that after the departure of one sniper from the Danish team, Astralis Group shares became cheaper by 6%. The capitalization of the company decreased from $59,100,000 to $55,600,000.
Tomi Kovanen also urged not to attach great importance to this fact, however, it was difficult to leave it unattended. Finance portal Investing.com kindly shared the information that Astralis Group currently has about 56,500,000 shares outstanding, and before device left Astralis, the value of one of them was 6.43 Danish kroner (~$1.05). After Nikolai Reedtz's transfer to the Swedish organization, the price of one share is now 6.05 SEK (~$0.98).
This news has not bypassed the Steam market. For the inhabitants of the eSports fauna, this did not come as a big surprise. On the morning of April 23, the cost of device stickers was about $0.31, and after the news of his departure from Astralis, prices rose to $0.63.
The announcement of the sensational transfer took place yesterday. In the Swedish organization, Nikolai Reedtz will take the place of the team's previous sniper, Tim 'nawwk' Johansson. The latter moved to the bench and is now waiting for his transfer to another organization. The deal was initiated by device. According to NiP director Hicham Shakin, Astralis themselves called him with a proposal for such a transfer. Shakin did not lose this opportunity, as a result of which the parties quickly came to a mutually beneficial agreement. Nikolai explained his desire to continue his career in NiP by saying that the situation needed to be changed, besides, he had already lived in Sweden for a long time and knows the Swedish language. However, at the last conference, he preferred to be asked questions in English rather than Swedish. The Dane also noted another motive: to continue his career in a club where many of his idols played, whom he admired and thanks to whom he made such a career in CS:GO is a great honor for the Dane.
Information on which roster Astralis will continue to play in is still unknown, however, based on one of the latest tweets from Bubzkji, who was in the status of the sixth player, Lukas Andersen will now be part of the starting lineup.
