Liverpool's Diogo Jota Plans to Launch Counter-Strike Team with Luna Galaxy
It's not an unusual concept anymore – footballers are increasingly investing in the esports industry. From David Beckham’s ambassadorship with Guild Esports to Sergio Aguero’s creation of KRU, top-tier athletes are moving into esports more and more.
Now, according to one of Diogo Jota’s managers, the Liverpool player wants to start a Counter-Strike team under the banner of Luna Galaxy, his established esports organization.
The Next Step
Diogo Jota’s esports organization, Luna Galaxy, already has a presence in various games like Rocket League and EA Sports FC. However, Counter-Strike 2 might be the player's next focus. Jota was recently spotted at the Esports World Cup, attending the grand final of the Counter-Strike 2 tournament between G2 Esports and Natus Vincere.
In a brief conversation with one of his managers, it was revealed that while Jota doesn’t play CS2 himself, he is interested in fielding a team in the game.
It's a smart move – Counter-Strike is one of the most consistently popular games globally, with an esports ecosystem that sees tens of millions of dollars invested annually. Jota's entry into this scene would undoubtedly be exciting and potentially very successful.
