Movistar Riders Officially Sign Just
In preparation for the upcoming fall season, Movistar Riders have turned to their Iberian neighbors for reinforcements. The Spanish organization has officially announced the signing of Tiago "JUST" Moura.
At 27 years old, JUST becomes the first Portuguese player to don the blue jersey since Christopher "MUTiRiS" Fernandes had a brief stint with the Spanish team back in 2018. This addition also marks the first time a foreign player has joined Movistar Riders since the team reverted to a full Spanish lineup in 2021. Previously, players like Lucas "steel" Lopes and Owen "smooya" Butterfield had temporarily joined the jinetes during an international period, but now JUST will become a permanent member.
JUST, an accomplished rifler, will be taking the place of Pere "sausol" Solsona Saumell in the starting five. This decision is a bold move considering Solsona was only recruited in October. Although highly anticipated when he joined the team in 2022, the 23-year-old Spaniard struggled to adapt to the squad. However, he leaves with an ESL Challenger Melbourne title to his name.
Previously, JUST was a founding member of SAW when the organization was established in January 2020. However, in April of the same year, he was moved to the bench following a roster shakeup that also resulted in the removal of head coach Omar "arki" Chakkor, after a disappointing performance at the ESL Pro League and failure to qualify for the Major.
Movistar Riders' first major challenge with JUST will come in September, when they are scheduled to compete in the group stage of ESL Pro League Season 18.
The current roster for Movistar Riders consists of:
- Alejandro "alex" Masanet from Spain
- Alejandro "mopoz" Fernández-Quejo Cano from Spain
- David "dav1g" Granado Bermudo from Spain
- Antonio "Martinez" Martinez from Spain
- Tiago "JUST" Moura from Portugal
The team is led by coach Galder "bladE" Barcena from Spain.
