PUBG Mobile 4.2 Beta Update Introduces a Nature-Themed Battleground

Following the huge success of the PUBG Mobile 4.1 update, the developers have officially rolled out the PUBG Mobile 4.2 Beta Version. Just like its predecessor, the new update introduces a variety of fresh mechanics and gameplay elements designed to make battles more dynamic and engaging.

This time, the core theme is Nature. After radioactive alien material crashes into Pochinki, the entire environment of Erangel undergoes a dramatic transformation. Vegetation mutates and grows uncontrollably, turning normal plants into massive trees and sprawling root systems. A colossal overgrown tree now dominates the map and can be seen from almost anywhere on Erangel.

Alongside these environmental changes, the update introduces new abilities, vehicles, weapons, and gameplay systems. Below is a full breakdown of everything currently available in the PUBG Mobile 4.2 Beta.

PUBG Mobile 4.2 Beta: All New Features Explained

Pochinki Returns as the Ultimate Hot Drop

In version 4.2, only two predetermined hot-drop locations are available: Pochinki and Yasnaya Polyana. Unlike previous themed updates, this version does not introduce many new buildings. Instead, existing structures are overtaken by enormous roots and towering trees that emerge directly from the ground.

This redesign brings back the classic Pochinki experience—fast-paced gunfights and intense early-game combat—something many players have missed since newer event zones shifted focus toward dense, concrete layouts. However, it remains unclear whether classic hot-drop bonuses such as auto-recalls or increased loot density will return.

The update also introduces several nature-based mechanics and abilities, with more features expected to be revealed in upcoming beta patches.

New AI Companion – Groot

AI companions continue to gain popularity in PUBG Mobile. After the Ninja Penguin Pownin introduced in version 4.1, the 4.2 update brings a new companion: Groot.

At this early beta stage, Groot’s full feature set is not yet available. However, players can already find Lumina Plant Seeds scattered across the map. Only one seed can be collected per match. After planting it in a chosen location, the plant will grow over time.

The fruit can only be harvested during the third match after planting. Most fruits are blue and provide valuable loot and supplies. On rare occasions, a golden fruit may appear, which unlocks the AI Companion Groot. This multi-match progression system is a first for PUBG Mobile.

New Vehicle – Scorpion

The Scorpion is the signature vehicle of the 4.2 update and the first insect-themed vehicle ever added to the game. It has a top speed of 40 km/h and comes with several unique abilities.

One of its standout features is Burrow Mode, allowing the Scorpion to tunnel underground and move safely beneath the surface, completely avoiding enemy fire. The vehicle can also fire projectiles directly from its tail, making it dangerous even in combat.

To summon the Scorpion, players must collect a special Scorpion Horn item. Once activated, the massive green insect appears instantly. This vehicle stands out as one of the most versatile live vehicles introduced in recent updates.

New Superpowers

Similar to the ghost abilities in version 4.0, PUBG Mobile 4.2 allows players to equip one superpower per match. Currently, two abilities are available in the beta.

Root Vision

This ability lets the player transform into a root and project their viewpoint to a different location without moving their character. It functions like a holographic scout, revealing enemies, loot, and structures from afar. Root Vision has a cooldown, so timing is crucial.

Butterfly Fairy

This power grants the character glowing wings, enabling flight, dashes, and aerial attacks. It is especially useful for fast travel, vertical movement, and gaining high-ground positions. The ability offers excellent mobility and opens up new tactical opportunities during combat.

New Weapon – Overgrown Honey Badger

The Honey Badger receives a powerful upgrade in this version. Infused with alien plant energy, the weapon is now covered in roots and delivers increased damage.

Once its power meter is fully charged, the weapon can release a special area-damage energy blast, making it extremely effective in close-quarters combat. This upgraded version has the potential to significantly impact the meta.

Classic Mode Enhancements

The 4.2 beta also introduces improvements to Classic Mode. While only one feature is currently available, more enhancements are expected in later beta phases.

Co-op Ledge Grab

This brand-new mechanic allows teammates to help each other climb previously unreachable structures. Players can step onto a teammate’s hands to gain height or pull allies up by grabbing them. This system adds new tactical depth to both casual gameplay and esports scenarios.

Visual and Audio Improvements

The update enhances environmental sound design and visual effects to match the nature-focused theme. Root movement, wildlife sounds, and character transformations all contribute to a more immersive battlefield.

As this is still a beta build, some sound effects may be incomplete. These elements are expected to be refined before the final release.
