Dota 2 releases update 7.39 "Spring Shake": map changes, new items and mechanics

Late on May 23, Valve released Patch 7.39 for Dota 2, titled “Spring Shake” — a significant update that introduces key changes to the game’s map, mechanics, and hero balance.

🌍 Map & Mechanics Changes

One of the headline adjustments is the removal of the Vampirism Amplification mechanic, which is now replaced by a new attribute: Health Replenishment. This shift is expected to change how sustain-focused builds are approached in both core and support roles.

Additional gameplay changes include:

• The Tormentor will now spawn at the 20-minute mark instead of 15, and its barrier base value has been reduced.
• Overseers are no longer capturable before creeps spawn, altering early-game control dynamics.

🎒 Neutral Items & Artifact Updates

The neutral item pool has been reworked with various additions and removals. Multiple common artifacts have also been adjusted or rebalanced, which will impact standard itemization paths across many heroes.

🔄 Hero Rebalancing – Major Overhauls

Several heroes received significant updates, with three standing out for the scale of their changes:

• Invoker: All three aspects (Quas, Wex, Exort) have been reworked, alongside adjustments to his Aghanim’s Scepter and Shard upgrades, redefining his skill curve and utility.
• Kez: Underwent extensive nerfs, with most of his abilities seeing changes that reduce their effectiveness.
• Batrider: Received aspect adjustments, impacting both his laning phase and scaling.
